Pa. Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Announces 2023 Statewide Average Weekly Wage & Maximum Rate
Although there are no cost of living increases for injured workers receiving workers’ compensation benefits in Pennsylvania, the statewide maximum compensation rate increases annually. The Pennsylvania Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Department of Labor & Industry has announced the 2023 statewide workers’ compensation wage loss benefits rate. The Statewide Average Weekly Wage, as determined by the Department of Labor and Industry for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, that is, the maximum compensation payable under Article 1, sections 105.1 and 105.2 of the Workers’ Compensation Act (77 P.S. §§ 25.1 and 25.2), shall be $1,273 per week for injuries occurring on and after January 1, 2023. For purposes of calculating the update to payments for medical treatment rendered on and after January 1, 2023, the percentage increase in the Statewide Average Weekly Wage is 5.7%.
