Social Security Compassionate Allowances – Benefits for The Most Seriously Injured

The Social Security Administration does identify certain conditions that will fast-track your application—called the Compassionate Allowances Conditions.

These Compassionate Allowances Conditions are primarily certain cancers, brain disorders, and rare childhood diseases. The goal is to cut the waiting time for what Social Security considers the “most serious disabilities.” Having one of these diagnoses does not mean automatic approval; it just means your case will be heard much more quickly.

The Social Security Administration recently updated the list to include multiple genetic conditions as well as certain cancers. Currently, the list includes the following disorders:
