IOLTA/trust account issues, including poor accounting, commingling, and lack of proper records, are one of the major sources of disciplinary actions against attorneys. These are problems that exist not only in Pennsylvania but throughout the country. Ethical guidance and IOLTA/trust account Attorney Daniel J. Siegel, who chairs the Pennsylvania Bar Association Committee on Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility, has been a leader in calling for mandatory education and other IOLTA account reforms so that attorneys avoid disciplinary issues. Dan has proposed new regulations and CLE options to protect attorneys. Equally important, Dan understands the nuances of IOLTA issues and has assisted numerous attorneys so that they comply with the requirements of Pennsylvania Rule of Professional Conduct 1.15, which governs lawyers’ IOLTA/trust fund obligations.
